49 Winchester
Alt-country soul from the heart of Appalachia in Russell County, VA. 49 Winchester made their start as an acoustic folk-trio in the months after high school and was well received into the region’s strong culture of grassroots music. They have since forged out a genre bending sound that is uniquely their own, delivering the poetically straightforward songs of singer & guitarist Isaac Gibson in a powerful electric live show. They have kept a consistently heavy touring schedule which includes a main stage performance at Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion, Mountain Music Festival, Road to LOCKN’ Festival, Red Barn Radio & supporting roles for acts such as Charley Crockett, JP Harris, and Shooter Jennings. .
“Triggered by Gibson’s oft-introspective lyrics, 49 Winchester could stand firm as a thinking man’s band. Appalachian wisdom spun in a web of youth and vigor, wonders and questions propel their latest album, “The Wind.” Nationwide, expanses of music fans know Appalachia for its bluegrass and country music. Gospel, too. As testified by 49 Winchester, that’s not all that surfaces from the region. They’re not Ralph Stanley. Don’t want to be, either.”
