Mountain Music Festival is coming up soon and we are getting excited for West Virginia’s best music festival. Located smack in the middle of the New River Gorge National Park ACE Adventure Resort has some beautiful mountaintop camping for you to enjoy. We wanted to give you a little insight into the camping situation this year at MMFest and get you some insider tips so you have the best weekend possible. Camping on the Mountaintop
Bring your tent and your comfy chairs for a weekend of camping, friends, great music and more. Camping at MMFest is car camping, which means when you arrive you will park your vehicle and spring up camp right next to it. Make friends with your neighbors because festival style camping means there are friendly folks all around. You will have plenty of room to setup your home away from home including your tent and living space. Some folks really know how to camp and create entire living rooms with tents, rugs and even inflatable couches. Don’t forget the kitchen setup too since propane stoves and fires are allowed at Mountain Music Festival.
Insider Tip: Get a canopy tent for your campsite. These are pretty inexpensive (less than $100) and you won’t regret the purchase. These collapsible tents are usually 10 feet by 10 feet and pack away nicely. They will provide your campsite with plenty of shade or a dry place to hang out in the event of rain. Be sure to stake down your tent well or the sudden gust of wind may send it sailing.
Get The Best Campsites
In reality all of the campsites on the mountain are fantastic, some are just a bit closer than others. This year General Admission 2-Day Passes include camping and parking as well. So there is no need to purchase an extra parking pass and there is no preferred parking for this year as well. Camping is first come, first serve so arriving early will ensure you are close to the action. Early Arrival Passes for Thursday include access to the Kickoff Party at The Lost Paddle that night. Super Early Arrival Passes will get you to the mountaintop as early as Wednesday to stake your claim.
Insider Tip: Want to make sure you are camping with your buddies? Campsites are assigned as you arrive and in the order you arrive to the Mountaintop Campground. This means that if you don’t drive up the mountain together you will be parked/camped in separate areas. Unfortunately we are not able to save spots for people who will arrive later. Here is what we suggest, when you arrive to the resort park in the main parking area. Have a drink or some food at The Lost Paddle, check out the waterpark or go for a hike on one of the many trails. Once your friends arrive convoy up the mountain together and camp together.
What to Bring
We put together a checklist to help you pack for this epic weekend. Packing for a vacation can often be a daunting task and no matter how much planning you are always going to forget something. Hopefully that something isn’t major and when you get to ACE Adventure Resort there is a good chance we can take care of you.
Insider Tip: Visit ACE Adventure Gear on site at the resort for anything you may have forgotten or pickup some ACE souvenirs and gear too. You’ll find the store located at the Trip Departure Area above the waterpark. This store at the resort also has cases of beer to go for your campsite. ACE Adventure Gear also has a Fayetteville location with more boats, outdoor gear and clothing.
