2024 is the tenth anniversary for Mountain Music Festival at ACE Adventure Resort. The event was just an idea more than a decade ago for Charlie Hatcher. Through some common connections he brought the idea to the owners of ACE who ran with the idea, building a permanent stage and music festival venue. ACE Adventure put on that first Mountain Music Festival in 2014 and Charlie has been helping produce the event every year. We asked Charlie a little bit about what he does and what makes Mountain Music Festival special for him.

What do you do for Mountain Music Festival?

I am one of the founders of the event and I am the principal talent buyer for entertainment at the event. I also ensure everything on the production side happens seamlessly while the event is running. This includes contracting and managing audio, lighting, staging and more for everything you see on the stage.

Tell us a little bit about your production story.

I’ve been working in this industry full time since 2002. I’ve done everything including playing in bands, managing bands, booking talent for various events and even running a music store. I have touched every corner of the music business over the last 22 years and still enjoy coming to work everyday.

What is the biggest challenge in doing your job?

To ensure that everyone is treated equally and fair during all my events. With Mountain Music Festival hosted at and adventure resort we like to treat everyone as our guests and provide a VIP experience for all.

What is the best part of doing your job?

Seeing it all come to completion. Being able to see plans that you have worked on for an entire year all come together. The best part of Mountain Music Festival for me is watching that last band take the stage and knowing we pulled it off.

What is something that would surprise MMFest Fans?

The amount of work that goes into a three-day event. There are a lot of moving parts and things that go on behind the scenes including production, ticketing, hospitality, vendors, artists, staffing, security, janitorial and fire marshall visits; just to name a few. We start planning for these sort of events at least a year in advance.

What are you most looking forward to for this Mountain Music Festival?

Getting to see industry folks that you only see once a year and making new memories.
