Whitewater Rafting the Lower New River Gorge
The New River Gorge is home to some of the best whitewater rafting in North America. ACE Adventure Resort has trips going out everyday to paddle this incredible section of river. The half-day express trips are your best bet during the festival as they will take you through the best rapids the river has to offer but you won’t be gone from the resort too long that you miss out on your favorite bands. Never been before? No worries ACE has a guide in every boat, all the gear your need and year’s of experience paddling America’s best whitewater.
Zip Lines Through the Trees
Want a bird’s eye view of the New River Gorge National Park? Jump onto one of the Zip Line Canopy Tours offered by ACE everyday in the summertime. You’ll experience nine different zip lines suspended in the trees along the rim of the gorge. This unique course will have you jumping from clifftop to clifftop while taking in the incredible scenery. There are even two sky bridges along the course where you can really slow down and take in the views. This is another adventure activity that only takes a few hours to do so you don’t miss a thing at the festival site.
Concho Overlook
Your trip to ACE Adventure Resort is not complete without a visit to our Concho Overlook. It is easy to drive directly to Concho from the main entrance of the resort or take a leisurely 2-mile out and back hike there. The overlook deck is perched 800 feet above the New River Gorge and overlooks the historic town of Thurmond. This has to be one of the prettiest views in West Virginia as the New River bends 180 degrees in front of you. You can see a mile upstream and three miles downstream. The town of Thurmond looks like a little toy train set below you. If you are lucky enough you might catch a glimpse of a train running through town. Aerial Park in the Sky
One of ACE’s newest adventures is the playground in the sky you’ll see on your way up the mountain. The Aerial Adventure Park features three levels that will get you over 45 feet into the sky. You’ll be faced with the challenge of navigating the numerous obstacles requiring you to swing, balance and jump from point to point. Grab your friends and book a slot on this exciting aerial playground.
Hit the Trails
With over 35 miles of trails spread out among ACE’s 1,500 acre property there is plenty of room to explore. Visit the Welcome Center and grab a trail map before you get out into the woods. You’ll find views of the New River Gorge, waterfalls, rock formations and more along the many trails the resort maintains. Bring your mountain bike or rent one from ACE and log some miles of our single track trail system.
ACE Adventure Waterpark
The waterpark is always a hit during Mountain Music Festival. On Friday and Saturday there is live music on the Greenbrier Valley Brewing Company Lake Stage so bring your bathing suit and get ready to dance in the sand. ACE’s waterpark features over 50 inflatable toys on a 5-acre spring fed lake. Plus there are waterslides and zip lines into the water too. Burn some energy running around the inflatable obstacle course or enjoy a cold beverage from your lounge chair on the beach, the choice is all yours!
