Mountain Music Festival has the best camping you are going to find at any music event out there. Located at ACE Adventure Resort in the New River Gorge, West Virginia this campground has been accommodating adventurers for decades. From your campsite you are going to have direct access to the festival grounds and three stages on top of the mountain. The rest of the resort is just a short FREE shuttle ride down the mountain and you will be enjoying Wonderland Waterpark, The Lost Paddle and The Greenbrier Valley Brewing Company Lake Stage. Festival camping is always a ton of fun with friends old and new. Having done our fair share of festival camping we know the success is all about the preparation. We put together a few festival camping tips to make sure you have a great weekend May 31st – June 2nd at MMFest.
This is the perfect way to transport your goods around the mountain. This year our general admission passes include tent only camping and having a cart on wheels will make moving into your weekend abode super easy. Once you are settled into camp for the weekend use this cart to bring everything you need to the beach, waterpark, stages, and all the other awesome places you will go. L.L. Bean, Amazon, Target, and Wal-Mart all have collapsible wagons that are made for camping and are perfect for all-terrain travel.
You definitely want to bring some sort of cooler with you for the weekend. Investing in a nice cooler is key unless you want to be drinking warm beer and constantly having to ice everything down. We will have plenty of ice on site for you to keep everything nice and chill though. Some of the best coolers for festival camping come equipped with big wheels for easy moving between your car and campsite. Cooler technology is always improving and there are tons of designs, styles, and sizes available currently. Some of the coolest designs on the market these days are collapsible backpack and duffel bag style coolers made by Ozark Trail, Yeti, RTIC. These types of coolers are easiest to move around on the trail, in the campground or at the festival since you can just throw it on your back and go.
The main campground is located at the top of Wonderland Mountain featuring a large 50-acre grass field dotted with small trees to provide shade and a place to hang your ENO hammock. Be sure to throw your hammock inside your backpack because there are plenty of places to swing in your hammock inside the festival grounds, at the waterpark, and along trails in the woods. You can pickup one of these lightweight hammocks at ACE Adventure Gear in downtown Fayetteville on your way into the festival or snag one at the festival merchandise booth inside the festival grounds.
Just because you are going to be camping out all weekend don’t forget your shower bag. You are going to find a number of shower houses spread out amongst the mountaintop campground where you are able to enjoy FREE hot showers. The number one compliment we hear again and again is how nice the bathrooms are. These are not the low pressure cold mobile showers you find at other festivals these are private permanent facilities where you can get squeaky clean. Be sure to say hey to our roving janitorial heros who keep these bathrooms super clean and ready for you all weekend.
Between the great food vendors and all the food options ACE offers you won’t have to spend anytime cooking or cleaning at camp. New for 2018 we are allowing our vendors to be open all day. That means breakfast burritos from Tica’s Tacos and more access to delicious food. At the bottom of the mountain you will find breakfast and dinner buffets, inside the lakeside dining hall, that are sure to leave you stuffed. The Lost Paddle is our bar/restaurant on site that features tasty burgers, brick oven pizza, wings, and refreshing drinks. The Diamond VIP package includes a full meals package to keep you fed for the entire weekend.
